☕News – Meta’s Connect conference this week is expected to showcase its next generation of smart glasses. The spotlight will be on new Ray-Ban and Oakley models, along with a pair of glasses featuring gesture-based controls, AI upgrades, and some talk about the metaverse.
A new model, codenamed Hypernova, will reportedly include a small display in the lens controlled through a wristband using sEMG technology from CTRL-Labs.
The glasses are expected to be priced around $800 and may be bulkier than earlier designs.
A leaked video showed branding for “Meta | Ray-Ban Display” and new wraparound Oakley “Sphaera” glasses with a camera.
Meta is rumored to unveil third-generation Ray-Ban Metas after selling more than 2 million pairs so far.
While no new Quest headset is planned this year, Meta is working with partners like Asus and Lenovo on Horizon OS-powered devices.
🤓OpenTools POV – Meta sees smart glasses as the next big step in how people interact with technology. Connect will be a test of whether these devices can move beyond early adopters and into the mainstream.
