UK to host summit on safe and responsible development of AI

📻News - British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on Wednesday that the UK would host the world's first summit on artificial intelligence (AI) later this year. The summit will bring together leaders from around the world to discuss important issues related to AI technology.

Well, we can expect the summit to be focused on the following key areas:

• Mitigating the risks of AI: This would include discussing how to prevent AI from being used for malicious purposes, such as creating deepfakes, developing autonomous weapons, or discriminating against individuals.

• Harnessing the potential of AI: This would include discussing how to use AI to benefit society, such as improving healthcare, manufacturing, and finance.

• Developing common standards and principles for the responsible development and use of AI: This would include a talk on how to ensure that AI is developed and used in a safe, ethical, and responsible way.

Currently, Sunak is on a trip to the United States and will meet Biden at the White House on Thursday. Both leaders are expected to discuss AI regulations in some capacity.

Sam Altman reveals OpenAI hasn't started training GPT-5 yet

🎓Context of News - OpenAI has been very successful in developing large language models, such as GPT-3 and GPT-4. However, some industry executives and academics expressed concerns about the fast rate of advancements by OpenAI's large language models. In response to these concerns, OpenAI pledged to not work on the successor to GPT-4 "for some time."

🗞️News - In a recent conference in India, Sam Altman revealed that his team hadn't started training GPT-5 model yet.

There are a few possible reasons why OpenAI has not yet begun training GPT-5. One possibility is that they are still working on addressing the concerns that have been raised about the potential for large language models to be used for malicious purposes. Another possibility is that they are simply waiting for the technology to mature before they move on to the next generation of models.

🤔What’s more? In his statement, Altman mentioned, OpenAI is already taking steps to mitigate the risks of AGI. He highlighted three specific measures:

• External audits: OpenAI has already been hiring outside experts to review its work and identify any potential dangers.

• Red-teaming: The company will create teams of people who will try to find ways to exploit its AI systems for an experiment. This will help OpenAI to identify and fix any vulnerabilities.

• Safety tests: OpenAI has also been running tests on its AI systems to make sure they are safe to use.

Bard, Google's AI chatbot, gets smarter at math and programming

♨️News - Google has announced that its AI chatbot, Bard, has improved its ability to solve math and programming problems. The company says that Bard's responses to "computation-based" word and math problems improved by 30% compared to the previous Bard release.

These improvements were made possible by a technique called "implicit code execution." Implicit code execution allows Bard to write and execute its own code, which makes it better at solving math and programming problems.
