♨️News - Shutterstock has launched a generative 3D service, and Getty Images has improved its AI image generation tool. Both of these are thanks to Nvidia's Edify AI technology and were announced by Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, at the Siggraph computer graphics conference in Denver, Colorado.

🥸For context - Nvidia's Edify is a multimodal generative AI architecture used in Nvidia’s visual AI foundry. It allows service providers to train generative models on their licensed data and scale them quickly using Nvidia DGX Cloud.

What it is: Shutterstock’s new generative 3D service is currently in commercial beta. It lets creators quickly build 3D assets and 360 HDRi backgrounds using just text or image prompts.

Who it’s for: It’s designed for enterprises to help designers and artists quickly prototype and populate virtual environments. For example, they can generate 3D objects like silverware or plates, which can then be edited in various popular file formats.

How it works: The service provides a preview of an asset in as little as 10 seconds, and if users like it, they can get a higher-quality version. Users can also describe their desired environment in text or with an image to receive a high-resolution 360 HDRi image, making it easier to visualize scenes like a sports car on different backgrounds.

What it is: Getty Images has upgraded its Generative AI service, making it twice as fast and improving image quality. The service now features advanced controls and fine-tuning options.

Who it’s for: This service is designed for artists and companies looking to create high-quality images quickly. It allows companies to fine-tune the AI with their own data, making it ideal for brands wanting to generate images that fit their specific creative style.

How it works: The upgraded AI can generate four images in about six seconds, with options to scale them up to 4K resolution. It offers controls for camera settings like depth of field and focal length, and supports using sketches or depth maps to guide image composition. The service is available through Getty Images and iStock websites, and via an API.

Key Points

  • You can start using AI Studio through its website or by initiating a new “AI chat” directly on Instagram.

  • Creators and business owners can use Meta's AI Studio to create AI profiles that chat directly with followers and respond to comments on their behalf.

  • The company’s guide for creators outlines how to manage AI avatars, including listing topics to avoid. However, Meta’s involvement is limited to ensuring that AI profiles are clearly labeled wherever they appear.

🕴🏻News - Meta is rolling out a new tool called AI Studio, letting anyone in the US create AI versions of themselves for use on Instagram or the web.

Creators and business owners can use these AI profiles to chat directly with followers and respond to comments on their behalf. You can start using AI Studio through its website or by initiating a new “AI chat” directly on Instagram.

In a blog post on Monday, Meta explained that creators can customize their AI avatars based on their Instagram content, topics they want to avoid, and links they want the AI to share. Creators can also set up auto-replies and specify which accounts their AI can interact with.

Mark Zuckerberg has discussed this idea several times recently, stating that these AI avatars can help creators achieve their community outreach goals. He mentioned that these avatars could reflect a creator’s values and objectives by pulling in information from their social media.

⚠️What's the most important point here? Initially, Meta had celebrities create AI versions with different names and personas to avoid potential issues with inappropriate comments. Although Meta has added controls in AI Studio, it's highly probable that such issues may still arise.

The company’s guide for creators outlines how to manage these AI avatars, including listing topics they should avoid. For example, creators can instruct their AI not to answer questions about cryptocurrency investments. However, for its own part, Meta only goes as far as ensuring that AI profiles will be clearly labeled wherever they appear.
