Key Points

  • AI-Generated Radio: Customize stations with descriptions like "mellow acoustic vibes" or "high-energy workout jams."

  • Song Search: Identify songs by singing, humming, or playing them.

🥁News - YouTube Music is rolling out a couple of new features to help discover songs. One is an AI-generated conversational radio, and the other is a Shazam-like tool for identifying tracks.

🎶The deets -  With the new AI-generated conversational radio feature, you can create a custom radio station by just describing what you want to hear, like "mellow acoustic vibes" or "high-energy workout jams." If you're among the select Premium users in the U.S. that this feature is being rolled out to, you'll see an "Ask for music any way you like" card in your home feed. Click on that, and you'll get a conversational UI where you can enter a custom prompt or pick a suggested one.

The second feature lets you search for songs by sound. When you tap "search" in the app, you'll notice a new waveform icon. What's cool is that unlike Shazam, which only works when songs are played, this feature lets you find songs by singing or humming them too.

We're definitely excited to try these out, are you?😁

Key Points

  • Synchron has integrated OpenAI’s generative AI technology into its brain-computer interface, enabling severely paralyzed patients to send more contextually-aware messages using their thoughts.

  • When patients get texts, OpenAI’s multimodal GPT models will generate context-aware responses for Synchron's interface, enhancing natural, real-time interactions.

🤠Context of the news - Patients with severe neurological conditions, like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), may now be able to communicate with their loved ones again thanks to generative AI.

🤓News - Last week, Synchron, a neurotechnology company, announced it had incorporated OpenAI's generative AI into its brain-computer interface (BCI) program. This integration allows users with severe motor impairments to send more contextually-aware messages using their thoughts.

When patients receive texts, OpenAI’s multimodal GPT models will generate context-aware responses for Synchron’s interface, enabling more natural and real-time interactions.

🧑‍🦼A case in point - Synchron posted a video of Mark, a severe ALS patient, using their brain-computer interface to reply to texts from his doctor. By using his mind to interact with a ChatGPT-enabled platform, Mark can have conversations with his doctor, book appointments, and describe his pain levels.

Synchron mentioned that this feature is mainly for patients with severe paralysis who have lost the use of their upper limbs, allowing them to interact hands-free with the world around them.

In Mark's words, "As someone who will likely lose the ability to communicate as my disease progresses, this technology gives me hope that in the future I’ll still have a way to easily connect with loved ones. This will be a game changer."
