X begins rolling out Grok to subscribers to compete with the likes of Bard

🗞️News - Grok, the chatbot developed by Elon Musk's xAI, began its rollout on 8 December, exclusively for X Premium Plus subscribers in the United States. Longtime subscribers will get early access to Grok, with the rollout expected to be complete within the next week.

Similar to ChatGPT and Google's Bard, Grok answers your questions conversationally, drawing on a vast knowledge base. You can find it within the X side menu on the web, iOS, and Android, with the option to add it to the bottom menu for quicker access on mobile.

🤖What makes Grok unique? Grok's hidden power lies in its core technology, Grok-1. This advanced model is fueled by a unique blend of data: information harvested from the web up to Q3 2023 and insightful feedback from human assistants.

But Grok goes a step further than its rivals. It possesses the remarkable ability to tap into real-time data flowing through X, enabling it to deliver responses that are always up-to-the-minute and relevant.

While it's still too early to say definitively whether Grok is truly more intelligent than its competitors, there's no denying that it offers a distinct experience. Unlike other chatbots that often come across as bland and lifeless, Grok is known for its wit and humor.

South Korea and U.S. join forces to drive global innovation in chip and AI

👨‍💻News - In a move to bolster their technological prowess, South Korea and the United States have agreed to elevate their partnership in state-of-the-art tech fields, including semiconductors, batteries, and artificial intelligence.

This decision came as top-ranking security officials from both countries met at a forum dedicated to fostering private-public sector collaboration in these crucial areas.

The event, held in Seoul on Friday, brought together 30 prominent companies from both nations, including Samsung, Hyundai, and SK from Korea, and Google, IBM, and Amazon from the United States. 🧐Cool AI inventions

  • Robot bees - An Israel-based company has developed small AI-powered robot bees that, alongside their insect counterparts, enhance the efficiency and reliability of crop pollination. These robots utilize vibrations, similar to the "buzz pollination" technique of bumblebees, to shake off pollen from flowers. This process promotes plant fertilization, particularly in crops like strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, potatoes, and sweet peppers.

  • AI mattress - Delaware-based furniture company, Heka developed an AI mattress that dynamically tracks body pressure distribution in real-time. This intelligent mattress independently recognizes body shapes and sleep positions, referencing Sleep Medicine databases to calculate optimal pressure distribution. It then autonomously adjusts height and firmness to maintain proper alignment and support during sleep.

  • AI whisky - Swedish-based Mackmyra Whisky collaborated with Microsoft and Finnish tech firm Fourkind to produce the world’s first AI-developed whisky. They fed existing recipes, cask types, sales data, and customer preferences into the AI model. The AI-generated over 70 million recipes, including new combinations that human Master Distillers never thought of.
