♨️News –  Perplexity is making its AI-powered browser Comet free for everyone. After months of being available only to premium subscribers, the company is now opening access to position Comet as a real alternative to Google’s Chrome.

👨‍💻Fast facts –

  • Comet launched in July for $200 per month as part of Perplexity Max.

  • Expanded later to select Pro users and a long waitlist.

  • Now available to all at no cost, with AI search and an assistant built into the browser.

  • Comet Plus, a $5 per month add-on, provides curated news and is included for Pro and Max subscribers.

  • Google, Arc, and Opera have also released AI-driven browsers.

🤓Open Tools POV – Perplexity’s move lowers the barrier to trying an AI-first browser. The question is whether its approach of putting AI at the center of browsing can help it carve out space against Chrome and other competitors.

☕News –  Universal Music and Warner Music are close to sealing licensing deals that could redefine how songs are used in the AI age, the Financial Times reports. The labels, which represent artists like Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Charli XCX, are in talks with Google, Spotify, and a group of AI startups about how their music can be trained on and generated by AI systems.

👨‍💻Fast facts –

  • Discussions include companies such as Klay Vision, ElevenLabs, and Stability AI.

  • Music startups Suno and Udio are already in copyright battles with the labels.

  • Negotiations center on licensing songs for both AI training and music generation.

  • Labels want a system like streaming, with micropayments for each use.

  • AI companies would need tools to track how and when songs are used.

🤓Open Tools POV – If these agreements go through, they could become a template for how creative rights are handled in AI. The outcome will show whether the industry can balance innovation with fair compensation.

“I’ve been searching for this!

One prompt → 30 days of content. Done. And it actually sounded like me. Honestly, it was scary how accurate it was — in the best way.

This is hands down the best deal I’ve ever grabbed. I’d stack it again and again. The time I’m getting back? Mindblowing.
