Alongside the GPT Store, the company also unveiled ChatGPT Team, a work-focused version of its chatbot designed for corporate use. This paid service, segregating a company's data for privacy, allows teams to collaborate on custom AI tasks through ChatGPT.

🤷‍♀️What would be the use of the GPT Store? Located within the popular ChatGPT chatbot, the GPT Store will allow users to create AI tools custom-fit for specific tasks, like math tutoring or sticker design. Initially accessible only to paid ChatGPT users, the store will eventually enable creators to monetize their personalized AIs, opening up a unique ecosystem for AI development.

Well, this launch marks the culmination of an idea announced back in November at OpenAI's first developer conference. However, the journey hasn't been smooth. The original November launch date was pushed back to December, with OpenAI citing feedback-driven "improvements" to its technology. This delay also coincided with a dramatic power struggle within the company. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was unexpectedly ousted by the board, only to be reinstated after employee protests.

US lawmakers propose new bill to oversee AI used by government agencies

🧙‍♀️News - A bipartisan group of congressmen introduced legislation on Wednesday aimed at ensuring federal agencies and their AI vendors prioritize responsible practices, minimizing risks and maximizing benefits.

The proposed bill, championed by Democrats Ted Lieu and Don Beyer alongside Republicans Zach Nunn and Marcus Molinaro, targets a specific corner of the vast AI landscape: government contracts. While modest in scope, it carries significant weight thanks to a companion Senate version introduced last November by Senators Jerry Moran and Mark Warner, suggesting bipartisanship and a real chance of becoming law.

🤶What is this bill all about? The legislation essentially boils down to two key measures. First, it mandates all federal agencies adopt the AI guidelines released by the Commerce Department last year. These guidelines outline principles for responsible AI development and deployment, addressing issues like fairness, accountability, and security.

Second, the bill takes aim at the black-box nature of AI systems often employed by government contractors. It demands the Commerce Department create specific standards for these vendors, requiring them to provide "appropriate access to data, models, and parameters" used in their AI offerings. This transparency measure would allow for crucial testing and evaluation, ensuring the government isn't buying black bags of algorithms potentially riddled with biases or vulnerabilities.

Davos report highlights AI-powered misinformation as an immediate global concern

🧐News - Cutting-edge artificial intelligence, fueled by false and misleading information, poses an immediate threat to global economies and democracy, warns a report released by the World Economic Forum on Wednesday.

The study, based on input from nearly 1,500 experts, industry leaders, and policymakers, identifies misinformation and disinformation as the foremost risks over the next two years.
