Alibaba launches Qwen3 coder to compete in global AI race

ā˜•News – Alibaba has introduced Qwen3-Coder, a new open-source AI model designed for software development. The company says it's their most advanced coding tool so far, launched at a time when the global race to build stronger AI models is heating up.

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ’»Fast facts –

  • Qwen3-Coder supports code generation and complex programming workflows.

  • It is designed to handle "agentic AI" tasks, where the model takes on coding challenges on its own.

  • Alibaba says it outperformed Chinese rivals like DeepSeek and Moonshot AI's K2.

  • It also claims to match U.S. models like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT-4 in some areas.

  • The model is open source and available to developers.

šŸ¤“OpenTools POV – This launch highlights how fast China's AI capabilities are evolving. If the model performs as advertised, it could start reshaping the competitive landscape for coding tools worldwide.
