OpenAI and Oracle plan major US data center expansion

♨️News – OpenAI is expanding its partnership with Oracle to develop 4.5 gigawatts of new data center capacity in the US. The move supports its growing AI workload needs and builds on its larger plan to develop 10 gigawatts of infrastructure across the country.

👨‍💻Fast facts –

• The new sites are still being finalized, with states like Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Wyoming in the mix.

• This expansion pushes OpenAI’s total planned capacity to more than 5 gigawatts.

• The Abilene, Texas site is already partly up and running, powering training and inference.

• Oracle has started delivering Nvidia GB200 chips to the facilities.

• OpenAI expects over 100,000 jobs to be created through construction and operations.
