OpenAI taps Apple’s supply chain for upcoming line of AI gadgets 

♨️News – OpenAI is working with Jony Ive, Apple’s former design chief, to create a new line of AI devices. The first product is said to resemble a smart speaker without a display, with other possibilities like glasses, a wearable pin, and a digital recorder also being explored.

• OpenAI has partnered with Apple suppliers Luxshare and Goertek for components.

• The first device could launch in late 2026 or early 2027.

• Sam Altman has described the devices as pocket-size, contextually aware, and screen-free.

• Several former Apple executives, including Tang Tan, have joined OpenAI’s hardware team.

• Apple has reportedly been working to limit staff defections to OpenAI.
