Key Points

  • OpenAI is testing a prototype social feed around ChatGPT's image generation and quietly collecting private feedback.

  • A social app would give OpenAI access to real-time user data, helping train its AI models more effectively.

  • The project could escalate Altman’s rivalry with Elon Musk and put OpenAI in direct competition with Meta.

♨️News - OpenAI is reportedly working on its own social media platform, similar to X, according to multiple sources familiar with the project.

While still in the early stages, the internal prototype is centered around ChatGPT’s image generation and includes a social-style feed.

CEO Sam Altman has been privately collecting feedback from outsiders, though it's unclear whether this will be a standalone app or folded into ChatGPT.

🔥Altman vs. Musk (again) - This move could deepen the already tense rivalry between Altman and Elon Musk. Musk recently offered $97.4 billion to buy OpenAI, to which Altman cheekily replied, “no thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want.”

🪞Meta in the rearview mirror - OpenAI’s new ambitions also put it in direct competition with Meta, which is developing its own AI assistant app with a social feed. When rumors first surfaced, Altman responded on X: “ok fine maybe we’ll do a social app.”

👨‍💻Why this matters - Having its own social platform would give OpenAI direct access to fresh, real-time data. That’s the kind of advantage both Musk and Meta already have, with Grok pulling from X and Llama trained on Meta’s user base. According to someone at a competing AI lab, OpenAI has taken notice. “The Grok integration with X has made everyone jealous,” they said.

Key Points

  • Grok Studio enables real-time AI collaboration, allowing users to edit documents, create code, and generate reports or browser games.

  • Integration with Google Drive allows users to attach files from their Drive, improving collaboration on documents, spreadsheets, and slides.

  • Available to both free and premium Grok users, the new feature can be accessed directly on the Grok website.

🤖News - Grok, the chatbot from Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has introduced a new feature called Grok Studio.

The tool allows users to edit and create documents, code, reports, and even browser games in collaboration with AI. The feature is available to both free and premium Grok users and can be accessed through the Grok website.

🧐How it stacks up - Grok Studio isn’t the first AI tool to offer a canvas-like workspace. OpenAI launched a similar feature, Canvas, for ChatGPT in October, and Anthropic introduced Artifacts for Claude. While Grok Studio is quite similar to these tools, it stands out by allowing users to preview HTML snippets and run code in languages such as Python, C++, and JavaScript.

🤓What's more - Another key update is the integration with Google Drive. Users can now attach files from their Google Drive accounts to Grok prompts, allowing the AI to work with documents, spreadsheets, and slides, which adds another layer of convenience for users.
