OpenAI and Google AI models tie for gold at math olympiad

♨️News – AI models from OpenAI and Google DeepMind just scored gold at the 2025 International Math Olympiad, solving five out of six problems in one of the world’s toughest math contests. It’s a milestone that shows how quickly AI systems are advancing in reasoning and language, but it also kicked off a new round of rivalry between the two labs.
👨💻Fast facts –
Both models tackled Olympiad questions directly in natural language.
Google waited for official grading from IMO before announcing results.
OpenAI relied on third-party IMO medalists for evaluation.
Google criticized OpenAI for jumping the gun with its announcement.
OpenAI says it wasn’t aware Google was collaborating with IMO on the test.
🤓OpenTools POV – Forget the drama, the bigger signal here is that top AI labs are chasing advanced reasoning benchmarks. As models close the gap with human performance, the race to prove credibility is becoming just as important as the tech itself.

Dia and Comet introduce shortcuts for common AI browser workflows

☕News – AI browsers still aren’t ready to take over complex tasks, but developers are making progress by focusing on repeat actions. Both The Browser Company and Perplexity are adding features that let users save and reuse prompts for things they do often.
👨💻Fast facts –
The Dia browser from The Browser Company now includes a skills feature that lets users trigger prompts to perform tasks like finding local events or generating code.
These prompts can be saved and launched using a shortcut.
The company just introduced version 0.1 of an official Skills Gallery, where users can browse and copy prompts created by others.
Perplexity’s Comet browser will also include shortcuts for tasks like managing tabs or prepping for meetings.
Users will also be able to create scripts using natural language, similar to how Tampermonkey works.
🤓OpenTools POV – Reusable prompts are a small but important step toward making AI browsers more practical. These early features hint at a future where everyday workflows become easier without needing full automation.
