🤖News - In response to rising concerns about the potential misuse of its AI technology during global elections, OpenAI addressed the fears in a blog post published on Monday. With over a third of the world set to participate in elections this year, worries have emerged regarding the impact of OpenAI's products—ChatGPT and DALL-E—on election integrity.
Notably, as the United States gears up for presidential elections, OpenAI revealed collaboration with the National Association of Secretaries of State to ensure responsible usage of AI in the electoral process.

To enhance transparency, ChatGPT will direct users to CanIVote.org for election-related queries. OpenAI also detailed plans to distinguish AI-generated images using DALL-E by incorporating a "cr" icon, adhering to the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity's protocol. The company is actively developing methods to identify DALL-E-generated content, even after modifications.
The company reiterated its commitment to ethical AI use, outlining policies that prohibit abusive practices, such as deploying chatbots impersonating real individuals and discouraging voting. It further clarified that DALL-E is restricted from creating images featuring real people, including political candidates. Despite these safeguards, the company acknowledged the challenges it faces in monitoring and regulating activities on its platform.
Tesla's Optimus robot folds t-shirt, but autonomy still a distant goal
👩🎓News - Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus, showcased its capabilities by folding a t-shirt on a table in a development facility. However, Elon Musk's follow-up comments tempered the excitement. Musk noted that he could fold shirts faster than Optimus, and the robot wasn't operating autonomously during the demonstration. Instead, it followed predefined motions, akin to a sophisticated marionette or basic automaton, emphasizing that full autonomy is the ultimate goal.
👩🏫What was the demonstration focused on? The demonstration revealed the robot's proficiency in manipulating soft materials like clothing, showcasing advanced animatronics. However, critics highlight the substantial gap between these displays and the envisioned role of Optimus as a fully functional domestic assistant.
🤖Are we close to automation? Despite Tesla's recent technical displays, skeptics argue that these scripted activities highlight the robot's mechanical prowess rather than its artificial intelligence. Elon Musk admitted that autonomy in less controlled environments with more diverse tasks is a complex challenge yet to be tackled.

Japan's AI and blockchain experts set up a committee to confront copyright challenges
🤶News - As generative artificial intelligence continues to be in the spotlight, a group of Japanese experts has established a think tank to prevent copyright issues stemming from using AI models in the creative process.
Dubbed the “Anime Chain Preparatory Committee,” the think tank includes AI and blockchain experts in Japan. In a report by Animation Magazine, the think tank is building an AI model with opt-in training data for anime creators to use without the hassle of dealing with copyright claims.
🧙♀️How would this model function? The model will rely on blockchain to ensure the “transparency and legitimacy” of training data, recording processes on-chain for clarity. Anime Chain says its primary objective is to build a safe environment for creators, which it intends to achieve by seeking the express consent of copyright holders.
“With our goal to respect creators’ rights, we will provide a generative AI rebuilt from the foundation model utilizing only opt-in material that has received the consent of the rights holders along with related tools,” read the report
Outside of preventing intellectual property issues, the preparatory committee is keen on solving the labor shortage problem in Japan’s anime industry.
