Key Points

  • OpenAI is reportedly developing AI agents priced between $2,000 and $20,000 per month for specialized tasks.

  • The most advanced AI agent is said to handle ā€œPhD-levelā€ research.

ā™ØļøNews - OpenAI is reportedly making AI agents a central part of its strategy, with plans to launch several specialized products aimed at boosting revenue.

A report suggests the company behind ChatGPT is preparing to charge as much as $20,000 per month for AI agents designed to handle specific tasks in software engineering and research.

šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ’»Here's the lowdown - OpenAI is working on a range of AI agents, each with a different price point. A ā€œhigh-income knowledge workerā€ agent is expected to cost $2,000 per month, while a more advanced software developer agent could be priced at $10,000 per month.

The most expensive option is a research-focused agent built for ā€œPhD-levelā€ work, which is reportedly set to cost $20,000 per month.

Details on availability and eligibility are still unknown. However, the report notes that OpenAI investor SoftBank has already committed $3 billion to these AI agent products this year.

šŸ¤“In conclusion - The push for AI agents aligns with OpenAI CEO Sam Altmanā€™s recent blog post, where he predicted that AI-powered assistants would start playing a role in the workforce by 2025.

The pricing strategy is also notable. At these rates, OpenAIā€™s $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro subscription suddenly seems like a bargain. The bigger question is whether enough companies will see value in these high-cost AI agents or if SoftBank will remain OpenAIā€™s biggest customer for now.

Key Points

  • Google is testing AI Mode, a feature that delivers AI-generated answers using Gemini 2.0 and real-time web data.

  • AI Mode functions as a separate search tab, providing detailed responses with supporting links, images, and shopping insights.

ā˜•News - Google is pushing AI further into Search. The company has announced a new experimental feature called AI Mode, positioning it as a competitor to services like Perplexity AI and OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT Search.

For now, AI Mode is still in testing. It is only available to Google One AI Premium subscribers, and they have to enable it in the Labs section of Search.

šŸ•µļøā€ā™‚ļøWhat to expect - AI Mode is designed for users who prefer AI-generated answers over traditional search links. It works as a separate tab in Google Search, similar to Images or News. When enabled, it generates responses based on Googleā€™s search index, with supporting links included.

The feature runs on a custom version of Gemini 2.0 and is built to handle complex queries that require reasoning and comparisons. Unlike standard chatbots, AI Mode pulls from real-time web data, the Knowledge Graph, and shopping insights to deliver more detailed results. Google says this makes it easier to explore new topics or compare different options, something that would normally take multiple searches.

AI Mode works by issuing multiple related searches at the same time and combining the results into a single response. Google plans to continue refining the experience by adding more visuals, incorporating user-generated content, and improving how links, images, and videos are displayed.

šŸ„øWhatā€™s more? Google is also expanding AI Overviews to cover more types of searches. The feature will soon be available globally, even to users who arenā€™t signed in, and is now rolling out to teen users as well.
