Nvidia launches Blackwell AI ‘superchip’, promising 30x boost over H100
🚀News - On Monday, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed the company's latest products: the Blackwell B200 GPU and the GB200 Grace Blackwell "superchip."
🤓Here's everything you need to know -
Nvidia's Blackwell chips, named after mathematician David Harold Blackwell, offer a significant performance boost compared to their predecessors, the H100 chips.
Huang stated that Blackwell chips are significantly faster than the H100, with speeds ranging from seven to 30 times faster, while consuming only a fraction of the power — about 25 times less, to be exact.
The new B200 GPU provides up to 20 petaflops of FP4 horsepower, leveraging its 208 billion transistors. In practical terms, this level of performance is beneficial for tackling increasingly demanding computational challenges with ease.
A GB200 configuration, which combines two of the B200 GPUs with a single Grace CPU, can deliver 30 times the performance for LLM inference tasks while potentially being significantly more efficient. Nvidia asserts that this setup can reduce costs and energy consumption by up to 25 times compared to an H100.
Huang mentioned that on a GPT-3 LLM benchmark with 175 billion parameters, the GB200 achieves approximately seven times the performance of an H100, with four times the training speed.
According to Nvidia, in the past, training a model with 1.8 trillion parameters would have required 8,000 Hopper GPUs and 15 megawatts of power. However, it claims that now, with 2,000 Blackwell GPUs, the same task can be completed using only four megawatts of power.
Although NVIDIA has not disclosed the pricing for Blackwell chips yet, industry observers anticipate a high price that will make them accessible only to a few organizations.
YouTube launches new tool to label AI-generated content used in videos
📱News - YouTube has added a new tool to label videos that include AI-generated or synthetic content.
👨💻How it works - Creators on YouTube must now use a checkbox during the uploading and posting process to disclose any content that has been altered or is synthetic but appears realistic. This includes scenarios such as manipulating real individuals to say or do things they didn't, editing footage of actual events or locations, or creating a scene that looks realistic but didn't happen. For example, simulating a fake tornado approaching a real town or using deepfake voices for narration by real individuals.
However, disclosures are not required for features like beauty filters, background blur effects, and obviously unrealistic content such as animation.
😒What's the catch? Like other platforms with AI content labels, YouTube's feature relies on the honor system — creators have to be honest about the content in their videos.
Nevertheless, there is still hope in the fact that YouTube says it will add an AI disclosure to videos, even if the uploader hasn't done so themselves, especially if the altered or synthetic content has the potential to confuse or mislead viewers.
UK deputy PM proposes global pact against AI election manipulation
🤠News - British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden has urged democratic countries to join forces in addressing the threat posed by malicious states using artificial intelligence to undermine free elections and propagate misinformation.
During the Summit for Democracy in Seoul, Dowden proposed the establishment of a global government compact aimed at countering the deceptive use of AI by foreign powers during elections.
Citing the recent agreement among major tech firms at the Munich Security Conference to collaborate against AI-generated deepfakes aimed at deceiving voters, Dowden emphasized the importance of governments taking similar action.
🥸What's more? During an interview, Dowden explained that the compact does not concern the internal politics of individual nations, affirming that this remains the prerogative of each nation. He further clarified that the UK is only pushing for a government-led process and agreement to counter the threat posed by AI from foreign states.
Furthermore, while the specifics of the compact are still under discussion, Dowden mentioned that multiple nations have already committed to it, although he didn't disclose names.

With rapid technological growth, the contribution of AI to the global economy is projected to hit $15.7 trillion by 2030.
Although AI is expected to displace over 80 million jobs by 2025, the World Economic Forum predicts that it will also create over 97 million new jobs over the same timeframe.
