Key Points

  • Mistral has updated Le Chat with new features like web search, document processing, and a Canvas tool for content editing.

  • Now, Le Chat also supports agentic AI, enabling it to perform complex tasks like invoice processing, a feature not yet available in ChatGPT.

  • Pixtral Large, the new multimodal model, processes both text and images, excelling in multilingual OCR, reasoning, and chart analysis, while the updated Mistral Large offers improved long-context understanding.

🔥News - French AI startup Mistral has announced several updates to its product lineup. These include new features for its chatbot, Le Chat, and the launch of two advanced large language models: Pixtral Large and an updated version of Mistral Large.

What's new? Le Chat, which means "the cat" in French, now works more like a digital assistant. Some of its new features include:

  • Web search with citations: Like ChatGPT, Le Chat can now search the web and provide answers with sources.

  • Canvas tool: Users can edit and transform content like web pages, data visualizations, and presentations using text or voice commands.

  • Improved document processing: It can handle larger PDFs, images, graphs, and equations to analyze and summarize them.

  • Better image generation: It now uses Flux Pro from Black Forest Labs for creating high-quality images.

  • Automated workflows with agentic AI: Le Chat now supports “agentic AI,” which allows it to perform complex, multistep tasks like invoice processing and expense reporting. This is something ChatGPT currently doesn’t offer, though it’s expected in the future.

🤹🏻‍♀️What's more? Pixtral Large, the company’s new multimodal model, processes both text and images. With 124 billion parameters, it outshines rivals like Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet and OpenAI’s GPT-4o. It’s particularly strong in multilingual OCR, reasoning, and chart analysis.

Additionally, the update Mistral Large (version 24.11) now offers better long-context understanding, making it ideal for detailed document analysis.

Key Points

  • Users can choose from different language models and adjust settings like tone, response length, and creativity.

  • The company is using its existing text-to-speech pipeline but plans to develop speech-to-text capabilities in the future.

🤖News - ElevenLabs, a startup known for its AI voice cloning and text-to-speech services, has introduced a new feature that allows users to create custom conversational AI bots.

🖥️How does it work? After logging into their ElevenLabs account, users can either choose a template or create a new bot from scratch. They can pick the bot’s language, set the first message, and define its personality. Developers also select a large language model (Gemini, GPT, or Claude), adjust how creative the responses should be, and set limits on token usage.

There are other settings too, like choosing the bot's voice, managing latency, and deciding how long the conversation can last. Users can add their own content, like a file or a URL, to help the bot respond better. It also supports custom integrations using SDKs for Python, JavaScript, React, and Swift.

👀See also - While the company is using its text-to-speech pipeline for the new bots, it still needs to develop speech-to-text capabilities. Currently, the company doesn't offer its speech-to-text API as a standalone product, but it may do so in the future, potentially competing with Google, Microsoft, and Amazon’s speech-to-text services.
