Key Points

  • Apple’s new AI-powered mode in iOS 19 will optimize battery usage based on individual user habits and patterns.

  • The feature is part of Apple Intelligence and uses collected battery data to make smarter, energy-saving decisions.

☕News - Apple is working on a new way to help users get more out of their iPhone batteries. As part of the iOS 19 update expected in September, the company plans to introduce an AI-powered battery management mode.

The goal is to reduce power usage by learning how each person uses their phone and making smart adjustments in the background.

This feature will be part of Apple Intelligence, the company’s growing suite of AI tools. It uses battery data collected from users’ devices to spot patterns and decide when to limit power-hungry apps or features. Users will also see a new lock-screen indicator that shows how long their phone will take to charge.

🤓Why it matters - One of the main reasons behind this update is Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17, which will have a thinner design and a smaller battery. That means less battery life out of the box. By relying on AI to manage power more efficiently, Apple hopes to make up for the reduced capacity.

Key Points

  • Microsoft’s Build 2025 will focus on AI updates and deeper integrations of Copilot into software.

  • Microsoft is testing alternative AI models for Copilot as it moves away from OpenAI.

  • Windows Copilot could soon gain “agentic” functionality, automating basic tasks for users.

👨‍💻News - Microsoft’s annual Build conference kicks off next week from May 19 to 22, with a major focus on AI integrations and updates across its software, including Windows.

One of the biggest talking points will be Microsoft's generative AI tool, Copilot. With tighter integrations expected across both consumer and enterprise software, Copilot could be set for some major enhancements. Last November, Microsoft raised the prices of several products, including Windows 365 and Office 365, by 5%. To justify this, new AI-powered features could be rolled out, with Copilot possibly taking the lead.

There are reports suggesting that Microsoft is testing alternative AI models from companies like xAI, Meta, Anthropic, and DeepSeek to replace OpenAI’s technology in Copilot. As the partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI faces tensions, these changes could lead to big changes in how Copilot functions.

🤖What’s more? Windows users may also see some exciting updates. Copilot could gain "agentic" functionality, allowing it to carry out basic tasks automatically. Leaker TestingCatalog found references to a new “Action button” in Windows Copilot, which could help trigger everyday tasks with ease.

Microsoft is also reportedly developing a new family of AI models called MAI, which could compete with OpenAI’s offerings. These models might be available via an API, with a possible announcement at Build. Additionally, the company may introduce a follow-up to its AI chip, the Azure Maia 100, with rumors swirling about a “Maia 2” in the works to boost Azure’s cloud services.
