♨️News – A landmark antitrust ruling could soon unravel Google’s $26 billion default search deals, including the $20 billion it pays Apple every year. While the contracts have long cemented Google’s dominance in search, analysts say losing them could free up billions for the company to channel into AI.

👨‍💻Fast facts –

  • Judge Amit Mehta has already ruled Google holds a monopoly in search and ads.

  • Apple’s pre-tax profits could fall by as much as 7% if exclusivity ends.

  • Analysts argue Google might benefit by redirecting billions toward AI and cloud.

  • Europe shows Google can thrive without default deals, keeping nearly 90% share.

  • The Justice Department also wants limits on AI distribution contracts.

🤓OpenTools POV –   If Google is forced to loosen its grip on search, it could accelerate its pivot to AI. What looks like a setback on paper might become the fuel for its next phase of growth.
