🤩Google’s I/O 2025, Unpacked

Everything from Google’s AI-filled keynote

Reading time: 5 minutes

Today we will discuss:

Key Points

  • Google made AI the star of I/O 2025, with updates touching nearly every product and platform.

  • The company is betting big on agents, automation, and multimodal tools to define the next era of computing.

ā™ØļøNews – Google just wrapped up its annual I/O keynote, and yes, it was basically one giant AI flex. From upgraded multimodal models to agent-powered tools and even a surprise filmmaking app, Google laid out its biggest bet yet: AI everywhere, all at once.

šŸ¤“Here’s the full breakdown –

Gemini Ultra: Google introduced Gemini Ultra, its most advanced AI subscription yet. Priced at $249.99 per month and currently U.S.-only, it offers top-tier access to tools like Veo 3 (video generation), Flow (AI video editing), and the upcoming Gemini 2.5 Pro Deep Think mode. It also includes upgrades in NotebookLM and Whisk, Google’s image remixing app, plus access to agentic tools from Project Mariner, YouTube Premium, and 30TB of storage.

Deep Think: Gemini 2.5 Pro’s new Deep Think mode mimics human-like reasoning by evaluating multiple responses before replying. It’s still in testing, with limited access through the Gemini API, as Google conducts extra safety checks. Think of it as Google’s version of OpenAI’s search and synthesize approach.

Video and Image Generation: Veo 3, now exclusive to Gemini Ultra users, can create video with audio including dialogue and sound effects. It also boosts quality over Veo 2.

Meanwhile, Imagen 4 promises faster and sharper image generation. It handles photorealistic and abstract styles with fine detail up to 2K resolution. A supercharged version coming soon will run 10 times faster than Imagen 3.

Both tools will power Flow, Google’s new AI video editor for stitching together short, generated clips.

Gemini App: Google’s Gemini apps now serve over 400 million users monthly. The Gemini Live update lets users interact with AI in near real-time using screen and camera sharing. It’s rolling out this week on Android and iOS.

Deep Research also gets an upgrade. Users can now upload private PDFs and images to build more personalized research reports.

Stitch and Jules: Stitch, a new UI design tool, generates HTML and CSS layouts from text or image prompts. It’s not as expansive as some coding copilots but offers solid customization.

Google also expanded access to Jules, its developer-focused AI agent that fixes bugs, generates pull requests, and manages dev backlogs.

Project Mariner and Astra: Project Mariner is now live. It lets users complete multi-step tasks like booking tickets or ordering groceries by chatting with an AI agent that navigates the web on their behalf.

Project Astra, developed by DeepMind, powers Google’s low-latency multimodal AI push. It’s now being embedded into Search, Gemini, and even third-party products. Google is also working on Astra-powered smart glasses in collaboration with Samsung and Warby Parker.

New Smart Glasses and Android XR: Xreal and Google teased Project Aura, a prototype pair of Android XR glasses with Gemini integration, a wide field of view, and built-in cameras and microphones. Google is also partnering with Gentle Monster and others to expand its XR lineup.

Search, Gmail, and Workspace Get AI Upgrades: Search is getting AI Mode, an experimental feature for complex questions, and Search Live, which will answer real-time camera-based queries. Gmail now supports personalized smart replies and inbox cleanup. Google Vids and Docs are also getting enhanced content generation tools.
