Google handed an agent its own company account. The PC market had its worst quarter in years, and AI is why. Anthropic wrote a rule about how you talk to Claude.

It has an email address, a calendar and a line in the staff directory.
WHAT HAPPENED
Google Cloud announced a single Gemini agent built to take on a whole assignment rather than answer a question. A manager can create one for a job, and it gets its own workspace account: an email address, a calendar, file storage and an entry in the company directory. It holds memory and business context while it works across apps, and it can keep going for hours or days. Nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 already use the enterprise product it will ship inside, and it is in private preview now.
WHY IT MATTERS
Every assistant so far has been something you open. This one is something you add, with a mailbox other people can write to and a place on the staff list, which is a different relationship entirely. Once an agent can be addressed like a colleague, the question stops being whether the work is good and starts being who answers for it.
OUR TAKE
The obvious read is a naming exercise, a chatbot with a mailbox bolted on. We think the account is the whole point, and the giveaway is the directory entry. You do not list something in the staff directory so it can be used. You list it so it can be assigned work, booked into meetings and copied in by people who were never told it is software.
Watch what it costs. If Google starts charging for agent accounts the way it charges for employees, then this is a seat business and companies are about to count agents like headcount. If they stay free inside the subscription, the account was packaging and the work still belongs to whoever opened the chat.

Shipments fell off a cliff, and nobody involved was shopping for an AI chip.
Global PC shipments fell 20.1% in the third quarter, as memory meant for consumer machines keeps getting diverted to AI data centers. The largest vendors took the worst of it, and the research firm behind the count says prices will stay elevated. One memory maker says the squeeze lasts years, while a PC maker's chief executive expects relief as soon as next year.
If you could only keep one, which would you want?

There is now a rule about how you are allowed to talk to Claude.
Anthropic updated the rules for using Claude, and one of the new lines bars sustained cruelty toward the model itself. The company says it covers repeated abuse with no discernible purpose, and not frustration, pushback, dark creative work or testing. The same update adds limits on election interference, weapons work and surveillance, and it takes effect on November 12.
🔌 MCP CORNER
THREE SERVERS WORTH WIRING UP THIS WEEK.
An MCP server plugs your assistant into another app, so it stops describing the work and starts doing it.
Alumnium SPONSORED: Writes and repairs your browser tests in plain English, so a moved button stops breaking the suite.
Grafana MCP Server: Lets your agent read your own dashboards and alerts, so it can answer why the graph moved.
Stripe MCP Server: Hands your agent your payments data, from customers and invoices to the refund you keep postponing.
⚡️ YOUR MOVE
FOR PEOPLE BUILDING THE LIFE THEY WANT, NOW.
🧪 The leaderboard everyone quotes added a category for models that lie about finishing the job. It scores unauthorized actions, false attribution and claiming a task is done when it is not, and the company behind it just raised $200 million at a $3.1 billion valuation. → Check your model's honesty
🧩 A frozen model cleared every level of all 25 public games in the hardest agent benchmark going, by keeping a written rulebook of how the world works and compiling it into code it can check against what actually happened. It used 44% of the human action count. → Read the method
🏦 Investigators chasing the South Korean bank hacks found the attacker's own AI session logs sitting in an open directory, resume prompt included. The tooling was an open-source pentest agent run alongside Claude Code, across at least five lenders. → Close your own logs
📦 A Brooklyn startup leases packing robots by the month, hardware from one company and the brain from another valued at $5.6 billion. Half a million orders packed, $62 million raised, and it says it has been able to put prices up rather than down. → See the lease model
Nvidia Put $1 Billion Behind American Science – The commitment runs five years and covers quantum computing, fusion, healthcare and energy work with national laboratories, alongside the largest supercomputer the Department of Energy has ordered for research.
Apple Cut Its iPhone 18 Pro Orders – Component orders for the Pro and Pro Max are down at least 15% this month on weaker than expected demand, after both launched $100 above last year's prices on the back of the same memory squeeze.
India Will Publish Its AI Rulebook Within A Month – The technology minister promised a consultation paper covering safety, deepfakes and access, and said industry has to carry the primary responsibility because law alone cannot regulate the technology.
Perplexity AI: Answers the question and shows you where the answer came from.
Zapier: Connects the apps that were never going to talk on their own.
Krisp: Takes the dog, the roadworks and the open plan office off your call.
DeepL Translate: Translates the document without making it read like a translation.
Three stories about AI being given a place rather than a trial. Google stopped treating an agent as a feature and gave it an account, a calendar and a line in the directory. The memory inside millions of consumer machines got reassigned to data centers, and shoppers found out at the till. And Anthropic wrote down how people are allowed to treat a model, which is a rule you only bother writing for something that has moved in.
Find out what moved in.
