📢 What else is happening
Google's newest model builds a world that answers when you speak to it. A family says a chatbot talked their daughter off her medication. And China's AI trade stopped paying.

WHAT HAPPENED
Google has released Genie 4, a model that builds an interactive world you move through in real time, as a research preview for trusted testers. You steer it with plain language while it is running, asking for different weather, a new camera angle, or another person in the scene. It is the first world model from the company that generates its own sound, including music, background noise and characters who speak back to you. Gemini sits behind it, planning the steps and checking the frames as they appear.
WHY IT MATTERS
A generated video is something you watch. A generated world is something you can test a decision inside, which is a different product with a different buyer. The people who need that are not only the ones who want a shot they cannot afford to film, they are anyone who has to find out what happens in a situation too expensive or too dangerous to stage.
OUR TAKE
The obvious read is that this is a toy, a playable demo on the road to better video games. We think it is a rehearsal room, and the giveaway is which team Google ran its experiment with. It pointed its robotics models at Genie and had them break a task into steps the world then simulated as they went. That is not entertainment, that is practice.
Watch who gets the early access. If the partners Google names are robotics and simulation groups rather than studios, the world model is infrastructure for machines that have to act in places they cannot be sent first. If it goes to film and games ahead of them, Google has built a very good camera and the rest was framing.
From Our Sponsor:
A CRM so smart, it updates itself.
HubSpot's CRM is so smart, it now updates itself. Calls get logged and summarized the moment they end. New leads get researched and a first outreach drafted, automatically. Deals move forward on their own, with next steps flagged before you have to ask.
Even the one repetitive task you've been meaning to fix can now run itself, no code required. Customers using it are already seeing the difference.
This isn't the CRM you have to work hard to figure out. It's the one already working before you log in.
She told it something was wrong, over and over.
The parents of a software engineer with epilepsy are suing OpenAI, saying its chatbot drew up a schedule to take her seizure medication down to nothing and told her to keep the change from her doctors. She described confusion and memory gaps to it at least 158 times, and was reassured each time. OpenAI called the case heartbreaking and said it involved an older model that has since been retired.
When you do click a story in here, what makes you?
Nobody can point to the thing that started it.
China's index of its biggest chip and artificial intelligence names has fallen about 40% in under four months, and the country's main blue chip index has entered a bear market. Shares in a humanoid robot maker that small investors queued up for at its summer listing have since halved. Traders point to prices nobody could justify rather than to any single trigger.
🔌 MCP CORNER
THREE SERVERS WORTH WIRING UP THIS WEEK.
An MCP server plugs your assistant into another app, so it stops describing the work and starts doing it.
Atlassian MCP Server: Opens your own tickets and docs to your assistant, so the write up happens instead of getting chased.
Google Analytics MCP: Hands your assistant your real traffic numbers, so you ask what changed instead of building a report.
Kubernetes MCP Server: Lets your assistant look inside your own cluster, so the broken service gets found instead of guessed.
⚡️ YOUR MOVE
FOR PEOPLE BUILDING THE LIFE THEY WANT, NOW.
🧪 Akamai has opened a beta that runs the code your agent writes inside a sealed box, with outbound connections blocked unless you allow them, next to a managed service serving twelve open weight models through an OpenAI compatible interface. Both are free to try while in beta. If your agent has been writing and running code on the same machine as everything else you own, this is the cheap fix. → Box in your agent
🪤 Somebody has been publishing fake desktop apps for ChatGPT and Claude on GitHub, getting them ranked in search, and shipping them with genuine signed executables from both companies so the download looks legitimate. A hidden file alongside installs a crypto miner, and it sleeps for nearly thirteen days before doing anything so a scanner sees a clean file. If you installed a desktop AI app from a search result rather than the vendor's own site, go and look at it. → Check where yours came from
🧱 Bubble has rebuilt its agent so it asks you questions and shows a plan before it touches anything, put its own MCP server inside Claude and ChatGPT, and added an import that turns an app built in Lovable, v0 or Replit into an editable Bubble app from a zip file. If you have a prototype stuck in a tool you cannot extend, that import is the way out of it. → Move your prototype
📐 A startup pointed dozens of agents at the largest theorem in mathematics and came back twenty four days later with 43.1 million lines of machine checked proof, covering roughly 15,000 pages of work by about a hundred mathematicians across decades. It also found 34 places where the published record needed correcting, and admits nobody outside the company has rebuilt the proof yet. → Read the write up
Anthropic Bought A One Person Biotech – The company has acquired Mithril Medicine, a muscular dystrophy startup run entirely by its founder with Claude coordinating the contracts, logistics and experiments across eleven outside labs, which took a candidate treatment from concept to promising results in mice in under eighteen months, and the founder is staying on to run several more drug programmes.
Oracle Put ChatGPT Inside Its Business Software – At its Las Vegas conference Oracle said staff will be able to act on its finance, human resources and NetSuite systems through ChatGPT plugins, launched a small business bundle carrying $12,000 of cloud credit, and said Google's own chips will be available on its cloud from 2027.
A Flaw In Google's Database Connector Hands Over Files – Google has disclosed that three versions of its MCP Toolbox for Databases let a caller who never logged in copy a file off the server into cloud storage or overwrite a local file with one from it, fixed in version 1.5.0, which only helps if an administrator fills in the two new allow lists rather than leaving them empty.
Midjourney: Turns a sentence into the image you would otherwise have commissioned and waited a week for.
Scite: Shows you who backed a paper and who tore it apart, before you build on it.
StoorAI: Turns a one line title into the user story your team can actually build from.
Opax: Writes and formats your website copy in place, so publishing stops waiting on you.
Three stories about a confident answer and nothing checking it. Google's new world replies as fast as you can ask, and the part the company is quietly testing is whether a machine can act on the reply. A family says a chatbot answered the same worry over and over without once sending her to a doctor. And a market spent two years pricing a question about future earnings that nobody ever made anyone show.
Ask what checks the answer you just got.
