👩🍳What’s cooking in the newsroom?
Reddit will use Vertex AI to enhance Reddit search
My opinion - Reddit search sucks. If someone wanted to find a product review, they would search google for “best car reddit”. Hopefully this technology will seriously improve the in-app search for Reddit (but I doubt it). My suspicion is that they won’t do much with this, and they’re just trying to divert attention away from them selling all of our user data (tinfoil hat has entered the chat).
Is Google Search boosting reddit posts?
The blog post mentions “Content forward displays” to show off Reddits unique user-generated content. Users are finding that their own content is being outranked by the mention of it in a Reddit post. Test this with your own brand - it might be a great new marketing strategy to dominate SEO.
The value of the deal is reportedly $60m.
Google now gets access to Reddits data API.
This means that Google will now be able to train on real reddit user comments. I’m sure we are all excited for Gemini to create beautiful responses like this 👇
Finally, a wholesome use of Deepfake Technology
New company “Onlock Learning” is using deepfakes to make entertaining educational videos. Check out this video, where Ice Spice teaches you logarithms 🤯

🎨Expensive AI art
Memories of Passersby I
Memories of Passersby I is a groundbreaking AI-generated artwork by German artist Mario Klingemann. Fully autonomous, it uses a complex system of neural networks to generate a never-ending stream of portraits, disquieting visions of human faces created by a machine.
The artwork was sold at Sotheby's for £40,000 in 2019, making it the first AI-generated artwork to be sold at a major auction.
