Spotify to offer its AI-powered DJ feature in 50 markets around the globe

🤶News - Spotify is expanding its AI-powered DJ feature to many more countries worldwide, six months after its initial release in North America.

The AI-powered DJ curates a selection of music that is tailored to the user's individual taste. This is done by taking into account the user's listening history, preferences, and other factors.

It also includes spoken commentary that is generated by a synthetic voice. This commentary provides information about the music that is playing, as well as other fun facts and trivia.

🦹‍♂️When was Spotify DJ launched though? Spotify launched its AI-powered DJ feature in the United States and Canada in February 2023. Three months later, the feature was extended to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Now, Spotify is expanding the feature to 50 more markets around the world, including Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, and South Africa. The feature will remain in beta for the time being, and it will only be available to premium subscribers.

🥷Any drawbacks? Well, unfortunately, the vast majority of the European Union will not have access to the feature quite yet. It is also worth noting that the feature is being offered only in English.

Disney creates AI task force to transform its entertainment businesses and cut costs

🧛News - Walt Disney has created a task force to study artificial intelligence and how it can be applied across its entertainment conglomerate.

The task force is looking to develop AI applications for all of Disney's businesses, from its movie studios to its theme parks to its television networks. The group is also open to forming partnerships with startups that are developing innovative AI technologies.

👩‍🏫Has Disney revealed any of its AI plan? Disney has been careful about how it discusses AI in public. The use of AI in the entertainment industry is still in its early stages. There is a lot of debate about the ethics of using AI to create content, and Disney may want to avoid getting involved in that debate until the technology is more widely accepted.

🕵️‍♂️What do experts think? A few experts in the entertainment industry see the use of AI as a way to help control the soaring costs of movie and television production.

The cost of producing a major film or TV show can now reach $300 million, which requires equally massive box office returns simply to break even. AI could be used to automate tasks such as scriptwriting, editing, and visual effects, which could help to reduce costs over time.

Zoom says it did not use user calls to train its AI models

👮🏽‍♀️News - Zoom, a video-calling app, on Monday, changed its terms of service after users expressed concern that the company was using their call data to train its AI models without their permission.

In a blog post, Zoom clarified that it would not use audio, video, or chat content from customer calls to train its AI models without the user's permission. The company said that it made changes to the terms of service to be more transparent and to address user concerns about privacy.

🕵🏽‍♀️ What exactly happened in the past? Zoom faced backlash in March when users noticed changes to the company's terms of service that they believed could enable AI training. The changes gave Zoom the right to collect and use user data for a variety of purposes.

Some experts warned that the original wording of the terms of service could have allowed Zoom to access more user data than necessary, including from customer calls.

Well, the update to Zoom's terms of service is a welcome step, but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to address user concerns about privacy.

🤩Tips to master prompt engineering

  • Use keywords - When constructing prompts for a chatbot, using keywords can significantly enhance the model's understanding of your desired output. For example when asking questions, incorporate question-related keywords (like "explain," "describe," "define," etc.) to indicate the type of response you're looking for.

  • Start simple - When crafting prompts for any chatbot, start with a general question or instruction to the chatbot and subsequently provide additional details or context to achieve the best outcomes. This technique capitalizes on the chatbot's ability to refine its output as it receives more specific information.

  • Use follow-up questions - When crafting prompts for ChatGPT, using follow up questions in your conversation can help you get more detailed responses. This method guides the conversation and ensures you gather specific and useful insights on complex subjects.
