OpenAI improves ChatGPT with a series of interesting features
🤖News - OpenAI has announced a series of new updates to ChatGPT, which aim to improve the user experience and make the chatbot more powerful and versatile. These updates will be rolled out over the next week.
👽But what are these updates?
One of the most significant update is the introduction of prompt examples. When starting a new chat, users will now see examples of prompts that they can use to get started. This will help users who are new to ChatGPT or who are not sure how to phrase their questions.
Another new feature is suggested replies wherein the bot will now suggest relevant ways to continue a conversation.
Furthermore, for Plus users, ChatGPT will now default to GPT-4 when starting a new chat. This means that the user will not have to manually select GPT-4 every time they start a new chat.
In addition, ChatGPT will now allow users to upload multiple files. This will make it easier for users to analyze data and to generate insights across multiple sources. The Code Interpreter beta, which is available to all Plus users, will also be updated to support this feature.
OpenAI has also added a few keyboard shortcuts to make the ChatGPT experience more efficient. Besides, ChatGPT will no longer log users out every two weeks.
UK experts warn of AI-enhanced images as a threat to democracy
👿News - After a Labour MP apologized for sharing a manipulated image of Rishi Sunak pouring a pint, experts have stated that action needs to be taken to regulate the use of AI-generated images in politics.
The image of Sunak pulling a pint was criticized by the Conservatives, with Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden calling it "unacceptable."
Experts warned that this incident could be a sign of what is to come in the next election campaign, which is expected to be very close. While it is unclear whether the image was manipulated using AI, such tools have made it easier and faster to create realistic fake text, images, and audio.
🧛🏻♀️What’s more? On this matter, Prof. Faten Ghosn, head of the department of government at the University of Essex, said that politicians should be transparent about the use of manipulated images in their campaigns.
She pointed out that US Congresswoman Yvette Clarke is proposing a law that would require political ads to disclose if they contain AI-generated content.
As deepfake technology becomes more sophisticated and upcoming elections in the UK and US approach, the debate over how to regulate AI is likely to intensify.
AI.com will now take you to Elon Musk’s X.ai instead of ChatGPT
🧟News - The AI.com domain, which is a valuable two-letter .com domain, has been, reportedly, acquired by Elon Musk's company, X.ai. The domain was previously owned by OpenAI.
Hence, if you type "AI.com" into your web browser, it will now take you to the website of X.ai. Earlier, the same domain would redirect a user to ChatGPT.
🧑🎨What conclusions can we draw from this development?
By redirecting AI.com to X.ai, Musk is perhaps signaling that he believes X.ai is a legitimate competitor to OpenAI.
Elon Musk is interested in shaping the public's perception of the technology. The AI.com domain is one of the most popular domains, and by redirecting it to X.ai, Musk is giving X.ai a chance to control the narrative around this advancing technology.
Also, AI.com is a short and memorable domain name. Musk is definitely making it easier for people to find X.ai.
Well, whatever Musk's intention are, the acquisition is a sign of his continued interest in artificial intelligence.
