Adobe launches AI-powered Photoshop on web with unique features

📸News - Adobe has launched AI-powered Photoshop on the web, a simplified online version of their desktop photo editing app.

The web-based Photoshop service will be available with all paid Photoshop plans, beginning at $9.99 per month, and will not be accessible as a free offering. However, users can explore the service through "free interactive demos and in-app tutorials" on Adobe's website before committing to a subscription.

🧐What's different on the web? This online version offers many of the same tools as the desktop version but with a redesigned layout aimed at offering a more streamlined experience.

The service will include popular desktop features such as the Contextual Task Bar, Generative Fill and Generative Expand tools, with others like the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, polygonal lasso, and more coming soon.

The web service will simplify navigation by grouping together tools that have similar functions, like those for selecting objects and retouching images, on the toolbar. Experienced users who prefer the classic desktop Photoshop interface will be able to disable this view.

Additionally, Photoshop on the web will also let users invite others to collaborate on projects and allow individuals without an active Photoshop subscription to view and provide comments on files.

ChatGPT can now browse the internet, provide users with real-time information

♨️News - On Wednesday, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT has been updated and the AI chatbot will now be able to browse the internet to provide users with the latest information for their questions.

This marks a significant breakthrough, as the software was previously restricted by its reliance on data only up to September 2021, limiting its ability to handle queries about current developments - a prominent pain point for users.

👀Some key points of the update

• ChatGPT will rely on Microsoft's Bing search engine to understand user questions and extract useful information from search results to generate responses.

• The update is currently available only for premium users subscribed to ChatGPT's "Plus" and "Enterprise" plans.

• Moreover, while OpenAI indicated that it plans to make the update available to all users soon, it did not provide a specific timeline for the rollout.

On a side note, OpenAI is reportedly in discussions about a potential share sale that would value the company at up to $90 billion, marking a 3x increase from its January valuation.

Nvidia’s AI chip supply is improving every week, says Microsoft technology chief

☕News - Microsoft's Chief Technology Officer, Kevin Scott recently stated that the company is finding it easier to access Nvidia's chips for artificial intelligence workloads compared to a few months ago, suggesting that the shortage of Nvidia chips may be easing.

🤔What caused a shortage in the first place? The shortage initially occurred because of the high demand for Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs), driven by the launch of Microsoft-backed OpenAI's chatbot - ChatGPT. The chatbot quickly became popular, causing a heightened demand that outpaced the ecosystem's capacity to produce an adequate supply of GPUs.

🙆‍♀️What's more? While the situation is still tight, it is gradually improving week by week. Nvidia has also announced plans to progressively boost supply each quarter throughout the upcoming year.

Furthermore, Nvidia projects a 170% revenue growth for this quarter compared to the same period last year, thanks to its dominance in the AI chip market. This is also evident from the significant rise in their gross margin which increased from 44% to 70% within a year, in addition to a 190% surge in its stock price this year.
