🧙🏻♂️ChatGPT’s Election Prophecy
PLUS: Meta Opens Llama AI to US Military
Reading time: 5 minutes
Key Points
ChatGPT forecasts an unexpected "dark horse" will win the U.S. election, leaving Trump and Harris behind.
The AI predicts post-election unrest, similar to January 2021, but sees leaders working to restore peace.
☕News - With the U.S. presidential election days away, The Sun set ChatGPT up to act as Nostradamus, the famed 16th-century oracle, to predict the election’s outcome. After being prompted for insights, the AI returned some surprising predictions.
🥁Who will win? ChatGPT's "prophecy" suggests that neither Donald Trump nor Kamala Harris will claim victory. Instead, the bot foresees a "dark horse" emerging unexpectedly: “In the final hour, a twist unforeseen… A name unspoken in many a tale will rise to power, beyond the pale.”
🔮What's more? The AI bot also hinted at unsettling unrest following the election, reminiscent of the Capitol Hill violence in January 2021. It warned, “The eagle's land, torn by division, will see unrest… Protests, marches, and rallies loud shall stir beneath a darkening cloud.” Yet, it saw hope, with leaders ultimately coming together to restore peace.
For Trump, ChatGPT foresaw resistance, with legal battles and support from his followers if he were to lose. It even hinted at his daughter Ivanka stepping up as his successor. Harris, the bot predicted, would have a steadfast future in politics, even if this race isn’t her victory.
Key Points
Meta has updated its "acceptable use policy" to permit U.S. government agencies to use its Llama AI model for national security applications.
This change allows the U.S. military to use Llama AI for tasks such as logistics, cyber defense, tracking terrorist financing, and more.
♨️News - Meta has announced that it will now allow U.S. government agencies and contractors to use its open-source Llama AI model for national security applications. The company made this announcement on Monday, revealing partnerships with tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Lockheed Martin, and Oracle to facilitate this access.
While Meta’s “acceptable use policy” prohibits using Llama 3 in areas like military warfare, nuclear industries, and espionage, this update permits the U.S. military to employ it for tasks like streamlining logistics, monitoring terrorist financing, and bolstering cyber defenses.
Interestingly, this announcement follows a recent report indicating that Chinese researchers have adapted Meta’s Llama 2 for military applications. In its statement, Meta stressed the importance of the U.S. maintaining a competitive edge in the AI race, asserting that it is in “both America and the wider democratic world’s interest for American open-source models to excel and succeed over models from China and elsewhere.”
⏭️What's next? Oracle has already begun using Llama to “synthesize” aircraft maintenance documents, aiding technicians in their repair work, while Lockheed Martin is employing the model to generate code and analyze data. Meta indicated its plans to make the AI model available to the government during its third-quarter earnings call.
