ChatGPT can now understand spoken words, process images and talk back
🔥News - OpenAI has announced that it plans to integrate voice and image recognition features into its text-based chatbot - ChatGPT.
The company plans to roll out these new features to Plus and Enterprise subscribers in the next two weeks, with a broader release for all users soon after.
😎How will it work? The new features will enable users to interact with the AI bot through spoken words or by uploading images, in addition to typing text. For example, users will be able to verbally ask ChatGPT to make up a bedtime story on the spot, or show it an image of the contents of their fridge and ask ChatGPT to plan a meal.
To use voice features, users will have to go to the app's "settings," then choose "new features" and turn on voice conversations. By tapping on the headphone icon in the top-right corner, users will be able to choose from five different voices for the bot to talk with.
Initially, voice features will be limited to the ChatGPT android and iOS apps on an opt-in beta basis, while image search will be available by default on all platforms.
Spotify's latest AI feature can translate your favorite podcasts in your native language
🎙️News - On Monday, Spotify announced a new AI-powered voice translation feature, which can reproduce podcasts in multiple languages in the host's own voice.
The company explained that the new feature relies on OpenAI's latest technology to make the voice sound just like the original host.
😸What's more? Spotify teamed up with podcasters like Dax Shepard, Lex Fridman, Monica Padman, Steven Bartlett, and Bill Simmons on some of their upcoming episodes which were translated into Spanish, French, and German. These episodes will soon be made available for both free and paid users.
Speaking on the latest technology, Lex Fridman expressed optimism about the potential of artificial intelligence in breaking down language barriers and showing that we all share a common humanity.
🤖Why was it needed though? Spotify believes that this new feature will enhance the authenticity of the podcast listening experience by preserving podcasters' distinctive speech characteristics. Even so, the company said that it plans to proceed cautiously due to privacy and safety concerns, testing the feature with a select group of podcasters for now.
