  • The API supports fine-tuning generative models using as few as five to 20 images, ensuring quick customization.

  • Trained models integrate seamlessly with multiple endpoints, providing high-resolution generation and adaptability for diverse creative needs.

🤠Context of the news - Black Forest Labs has quickly become a standout in the world of open-source AI image generation, earning a reputation for quality that surpasses even Stability AI, where its founders once worked. The company also gained attention as the default image generator for xAI’s Grok language model for a brief period.

News - Building on its success, Black Forest Labs has launched the FLUX Pro Finetuning API, a tool designed to let creators personalize generative AI models with their own images and ideas.

This new offering is tailored for professionals in fields like marketing, branding, and storytelling, making it easier than ever to customize the company’s flagship FLUX Pro and FLUX Ultra models.

👨🏻‍💻How? The API enables users to fine-tune text-to-image models using just five to 20 training images, with the option to include text descriptions. This approach creates customized models that preserve the versatility of FLUX Pro while aligning output with specific creative needs.

With multiple modes—such as “character,” “product,” “style,” and “general”—the tool adapts to a wide range of applications. Trained models can also integrate seamlessly with endpoints like FLUX.1 Fill, Depth, Canny, and Redux, offering high-resolution outputs of up to four megapixels.

From brand-consistent visuals to detailed character art, the FLUX Pro Finetuning API brings precision and flexibility to AI-generated content.

Key Points

  • A British study found that frequent AI use among young people correlates with lower critical thinking skills.

  • Younger participants, especially those aged 17-25, exhibited higher AI reliance, leading to cognitive offloading and weaker critical thinking.

♨️News - As universities worldwide navigate the growing role of artificial intelligence among students, a recent British study has raised concerns about its impact on critical thinking skills.

The research, which analyzed responses from over 650 individuals aged 17 and older, found that those who frequently used AI tools scored lower in critical thinking tests.

Michael Gerlich, the study's author from the SBS Swiss Business School, pointed out that younger participants, in particular, showed a notable decline in their cognitive abilities, underlining the importance of educational interventions to balance AI use with critical thinking development.

🧐What led to this conclusion? The study gathered data from participants recruited online through various social media platforms. They completed a questionnaire on their AI usage and its impact on memory and problem-solving tasks.

The analysis revealed that younger respondents, especially those between 17 and 25, relied more heavily on AI, which led to a phenomenon called cognitive offloading. In turn, this reliance correlated with a decline in critical thinking scores. On the other hand, participants over 46 used AI less but performed better in critical thinking assessments.

📒What's more? The study also found that higher educational attainment helped buffer against the negative effects of AI on critical thinking. Gerlich emphasized that integrating strategies to engage students more critically with AI tools could help maintain important cognitive skills while still benefiting from the technology’s convenience.
