Every M5 chip now runs AI 4x faster locally. Neural Accelerators built into every GPU core. LLMs process on your device without asking servers for permission.

The entire industry builds toward the cloud. Apple charged $100 more and went the opposite direction.

Why this is important:

Cloud AI means every prompt, every query, every thought you feed a model flows through someone else's infrastructure first. They see it all.

Apple just built computers where intelligence runs privately.

When AI lives on your device, surveillance becomes opt-in instead of required.

What's happening:

OpenAI had to rewrite its Pentagon deal.

Employees and users revolted. Altman admitted it "looked sloppy." The new version explicitly blocks domestic surveillance and data from commercial brokers. Intelligence agencies like NSA can't use OpenAI now.

Why this is important:

The first version said "follow the law." The new version bans specific things the law doesn't clearly prohibit.

Location data, browsing history, anything bought from data brokers. All blocked now. Before, all technically legal.
