  • Claude 3.5 Sonnet is Anthropic's best model yet.

  • It significantly outperforms its predecessor, Claude 3 Sonnet, and the previous flagship, Claude 3 Opus, by a wide margin across benchmarks in reading, coding, math, and vision. And it's twice as fast!

  • Along with the new Claude model, Anthropic is also introducing Artifacts, a feature that allows users to view and interact with the results of their requests directly within the app.

🚀News - Anthropic has unveiled Claude 3.5 Sonnet, a new AI model that it claims outperforms OpenAI's latest system, GPT-4o.

This release, coming just a month after GPT-4o's launch, highlights the rapid and fierce competition among leading AI companies to outdo each other's software advancements.

😁So what's new? Claude 3.5 Sonnet is Anthropic's best model yet. It significantly outperforms its predecessor, Claude 3 Sonnet, and the previous flagship, Claude 3 Opus, by a wide margin across benchmarks in reading, coding, math, and vision. Additionally, it is reportedly twice as fast, making it a major upgrade.

According to the company, Claude 3.5 Sonnet is much better at writing, translating code, handling multistep workflows, interpreting charts and graphs, and transcribing text from images. It also has a better grasp of humor and can write in a more human-like manner.

Along with the new Claude model, Anthropic is also introducing Artifacts, a feature that allows users to view and interact with the results of their requests directly within the app. For instance, if Claude designs something, you can see and edit it right in the app. Similarly, if Claude writes an email, you can make edits within the Claude app instead of needing to copy it to another text editor. It's a small yet practical addition.

👨🏻‍💻Where can you access it? Free users of Anthropic’s web client and the Claude iOS app can use Claude 3.5 Sonnet at no cost. Subscribers to Anthropic’s paid plans, Claude Pro and Claude Team, enjoy 5 times higher rate limits. The model is also live on Anthropic’s API and integrated into platforms such as Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.

  • Amazon aims to launch the upgraded Alexa in August.

  • The paid version of Alexa is rumored to have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • It may include features like learning from user behavior to automate tasks, such as starting a coffee pot when the user's alarm goes off.

  • Amazon will continue offering a free version of Alexa upgraded with new generative AI capabilities, while reserving more advanced features behind a paid subscription.

☕Context of the news - Last year, David Limp, who was Amazon’s senior vice president of devices and services at the time, suggested that a more advanced version of Alexa was on the horizon, but it might come with a fee. Now, there's an indication of what that cost might be.

😎News - According to a Reuters report, Amazon’s AI-enhanced Alexa might cost an extra $5 to $10 per month on top of a Prime membership.

Sources revealed that Amazon aims to launch this upgraded Alexa in August in a  "desperate attempt" to revamp the voice assistant.

🤖Here's everything we know so far -

  • The paid version of Alexa may not require users to say "Alexa" for every command.

  • It is rumored to have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as drafting a quick email and placing an order through Uber Eats.

  • The upgraded Alexa may include features like learning from user behavior to automate tasks, such as starting a coffee pot when the user's alarm goes off. This aligns with CNBC's recent report indicating Amazon's intention to introduce a subscription service for Alexa separate from Prime membership.

  • Moreover, Amazon will continue offering a free version of Alexa alongside the paid subscription. As noted by Reuters, Amazon intends to upgrade the basic version with new generative AI capabilities, while reserving more advanced features behind a paid subscription. The free AI Alexa is expected to allow users to seek shopping advice, such as recommendations for hats and gloves suitable for a mountain climbing trip.
