Saudi Arabia and UAE buy thousands of high-performance Nvidia chips

🤡News - Saudi Arabia and the UAE are competing to buy up Nvidia chips for developing artificial intelligence software. This is part of a global trend of countries investing heavily in AI, which is driving up demand for these chips.

Saudi Arabia has purchased at least 3,000 of Nvidia's H100 chips, which are high-performance processors designed for generative AI. The chips were purchased through the public research institution King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

🤔What about UAE? The UAE has also secured access to thousands of Nvidia chips and has developed its own open-source large language model, called Falcon. The model was created at the state-owned Technology Innovation Institute in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.

Besides, the UAE is also investing heavily in AI research and development, with the goal of becoming a hub for AI talent and innovation.

Although Saudi Arabia and the UAE have publicly stated their intention to use AI to boost their economies and reduce their reliance on oil, their purchases of Nvidia chips have raised concerns about how autocratic leaders might misuse this technology.

Amazon unveils new Gen AI feature that would summarize product reviews

🤷‍♂️What about its accuracy? Amazon says that the AI-powered summarization tool is trained on a massive dataset of verified purchases. This helps to ensure that the summaries are accurate and relevant. Additionally, Amazon uses AI models to detect sketchy reviews and human investigators to review flagged reviews.

Google Photos uses AI to add a scrapbook-like memories view feature

The new Memories view would be based on the old Memories feature, which shows you photos from your past in a carousel. This feature is popular, with over half a billion people using it every month.
