2023 US Open to use game-changing AI technology for Tennis fans
👨🏼🎓News - The 2023 US Open, much like other major tennis tournaments this year, will feature a variety of AI-powered technologies, designed to enhance the experience for both fans and players.
Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova will return to the US Open as a guest of IBM, where she will help promote the tournament's AI-powered features.
🕵🏼But how would AI help fans?
One of the most notable features would be AI-driven commentary. The technology will use computer vision to track the movements of players on the court and generate real-time commentary, even for matches that are not being broadcast live.
Another new AI-powered feature would be a data center that will aggregate and analyze a vast array of data points, such as player statistics, weather conditions, and fan engagement. This data will be used to provide insights into the game and create personalized experiences for fans.
In fact, AI is also being used to improve the efficiency of operations, such as scheduling matches and managing logistics. This has helped the tournament to reduce its costs and improve the fan experience.
AI adoption in Australia takes off, but governance struggles to keep up
💂🏼♂️News - A recent study by Datacom, Australasia's leading native tech company, revealed that while the integration of AI is on the rise within the Australian business arena, governance and policy frameworks are lagging behind.
Notably, the research engaged 318 business decision-makers from various Australian organizations.
🤶🏼What were the interesting findings of the report?
The study found that 72% of Australian businesses are using AI, but only 52% have staff policies in place to govern its use, and only 40% have legal guidelines.
The research highlighted that 86% of business leaders agree that AI will profoundly impact operations and workplace structures. Nevertheless, one in five of them admitted feeling inadequately informed about the security risks AI may pose.
The study also pointed out that 90% of business leaders advocated for the government to introduce specific laws and regulations related to AI utilization within the public sector.
Microsoft President advocates for AI regulation to mitigate risks
👩🏼🚀News - Microsoft President Brad Smith has urged for regulations on artificial intelligence at both national and international levels.
He believes that AI has the potential to do more good for the people of India and the world than any other technological advancement of this generation, but that it is also important to acknowledge the significant responsibility that comes with AI and to ensure that it is used responsibly.
🧙🏼What’s more? Smith stated that AI will have a progressively positive impact on everyday work and daily life, but that it also poses risks, such as prejudice, discrimination, and job displacement.
He argued that these risks can be mitigated by regulation, which should focus on ensuring the transparency, accountability, and safety of AI systems.
Smith commended India's newly enacted data protection legislation as a "sound law" and stated that it serves as a good example for other countries.
