👩🍳What’s cooking in the newsroom?
Generative AI chatbots to cut search engine usage by 25% in the next two years
👩🏻💻News - According to a recent report by Gartner, generative AI poses a serious threat to search engines. The report predicts a 25% drop in search engine usage by 2026, driven by the increasing popularity of AI chatbots and virtual agents.
🕵🏻♀️Why the move to GenAI? Researchers have found that the rise in sponsored or spam links, along with questionable search engine optimization (SEO) methods, is reducing the reliability of search results. Additionally, many users believe that search engines are becoming less effective as a result of these factors.
In light of these issues, generative AI chatbots have emerged as an alternative means of accessing information. Unlike traditional search engines, they present concise summaries of information rather than lists of links, occasionally including relevant links as references.
💁🏻♀️In conclusion - Gartner's prediction might prove true, but we won't know until 2026. For now, there are worries about the accuracy of Generative AI chatbots, with some platforms warning users about possible errors and misinformation.
Therefore, as the future of search evolves, it's important to carefully consider the trade-offs between convenience and accuracy.
Researchers develop AI that can tell your gender from brain scans with 90% accuracy
🤯News - Stanford researchers have created an AI model that can identify an individual's gender by looking at their brain scans with over 90% accuracy.
This breakthrough backs the theory that men's and women's brains are organized differently, thus putting an end to ongoing debates about whether such differences exist.
🧠How does it work? The AI model examines MRI scans of the brain in action and identifies patterns in how different parts of the brain communicate. It focuses on specific networks, like the default mode, striatum, and limbic networks, which help tell the difference between male and female brains.
🤓What's more? Not only can the AI model accurately tell the difference between male and female brain scans, showing that men's and women's brains are naturally different in how they're built, but it also helps us learn more about how brains grow and change as we get older.
The research also suggests that mental and neurological issues affect men and women differently. By recognizing these differences, professionals can address gender-specific vulnerabilities and tailor treatments accordingly.
After Grok, Groq AI Model Steps Up to Compete with ChatGPT
☕News - Groq, a newly launched AI tool, has caused a stir on social media because of its lightning-fast responses and technology that could potentially eliminate the need for GPUs.
🧐What's the buzz all about?
Groq skyrocketed to fame overnight when its public benchmark tests went viral on social media platform X, showcasing its superior computation and response speed compared to the well-known AI chatbot, ChatGPT.
Groq Inc, the company behind this model, says they've made something called a language processing unit (LPU) to run their model. This means they don't need to use the hard-to-find and expensive graphics cards (GPUs) that are usually used to run AI models.
The company's custom application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) chip for large language models (LLMs) enables it to produce about 500 tokens per second, whereas the publicly accessible ChatGPT-3.5 model can generate approximately 40 tokens per second.
It's worth mentioning that the company was established in 2016 and trademarked the name Groq well before November 2023, when Elon Musk's AI model, also named Grok but spelled with a "k," started gaining attention.
Interestingly, this also comes at a time when many big tech companies are trying to make their own chips to run their AI models, so they don't have to rely solely on those made by the chip giant Nvidia.
